One of New Zealand's premium glow worm experiences, the Glow Worm Kayak Tour with Taiao Adventures is designed to create a magical and special trip. Every night we explore the Rotorua Lakes in a truly unique evening kayak tour. From the excitement of kayaking in the dark, the exquisite bioluminescent glow worms, stargazing below the Milky Way, a truly wonderful adventure for everyone.

Your evening begins with a scenic shuttle from Rotorua, passing through native forest and lake country before arriving at our lakeside base. After a warm welcome, your guide will provide all equipment and run through safety instructions before you set off onto the water.

As the sun sets, paddle along the peaceful lake edge, taking in the changing sky. Once night falls, follow your guide into small hidden caves — home to incredible galaxies of glow worms, twinkling across the walls like stars in the night. The calm of the water, the stillness of the evening, and the bioluminescent glow create an otherworldly experience.

Soak in the quiet comfort of the historic Polynesian Spa’s Deluxe Lake Spa, where naturally heated mineral waters meet panoramic views of Lake Rotorua. This family-friendly retreat features five geothermally heated mineral pools ranging from 36°C to 41°C, all overlooking the serene Sulphur Bay. Guests can experience two unique types of healing waters:

Priest Spring – acidic mineral water known for easing tired muscles and joint pain.
